OUR GOAL
The primary goal of Adopt A Homeless Person is to eliminate the risk factors that predispose men, women, pregnant women, and families to abuse, neglect, homelessness, delinquency, and encounters with the criminal justice system. Research shows that the primary risk factors for these types of situations include:
Family influence such as poor family management practices, substance abuse, criminality and lack of education;
_______ Maltreatment, physical or sexual abuse and or forced to leave home; _______ Neighborhood factors such as economic deprivation, high rate of substance abuse, crime and disorganization. |
WE HAVE PROGRAMS TO HELP
Our program is divided into four segments, click the link below to learn more.
THE NEED
Our program reveals that to counter these risks, protective factors which moderate disadvantaged individual’s exposure must be introduced. Three basic categories of protective factors are identified as: 1) positive social orientation; 2) bonding with pro-social family members, teachers, adults and friends; and 3) healthy beliefs and clear standards of behavior.
